UNIFIL Confirms Withdrawal From Southern Lebanon Will Begin After December 2026
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has confirmed that its mandate will expire on December 31, 2026, with a gradual withdrawal beginning afterward.

Until then, peacekeepers from 45 countries will continue their operations in southern Lebanon, including monitoring security developments and supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces.
Lebanese officials have warned that the departure could create a security vacuum along the border.
The withdrawal process is expected to continue into 2027.
