IDF Resumes Live-Fire Training in Southern Hebron Hills After Years-Long Suspension
For the first time in several years, the IDF has resumed military exercises in Firing Zone 918, also known as Masafer Yatta, in the southern Hebron Hills.

The area was the subject of a lengthy legal dispute. In 2022, Israel's Supreme Court ruled that there was no legal barrier to removing Palestinian residents from the designated military training zone.
Yesterday, the IDF's 405th Artillery Battalion conducted an exercise using artillery guns near Palestinian communities in the area.
The IDF said unauthorized construction had prevented live-fire training for years and emphasized the importance of maintaining military training grounds to preserve operational readiness.
