Herzog to Assign Government Formation Mandate Sunday as Eisenkot Secures 67 Recommendations
President Isaac Herzog announced Thursday that he intends to assign the mandate to form Israel's next government on Sunday, November 8.
Following consultations with all parties elected to the 26th Knesset, Herzog said parties representing 67 lawmakers recommended Yashar! leader Gadi Eisenkot, while parties representing 46 lawmakers backed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Despite Eisenkot's lead, Herzog cautioned that the ability to form a government remains uncertain due to political divisions and mutual refusals to cooperate.
He said he would hold further discussions with party leaders before making his decision, seeking a stable government for Israel.
