Israeli Arab Who Pledged Allegiance to ISIS Indicted

A 21-year-old resident of Shfaram in northern Israel is set to be indicted for active membership in a terrorist organization after investigators found he had repeatedly pledged allegiance to ISIS, according to a joint statement from the Shin Bet and the Israel Police.
Mohammed Suwaitat was arrested on September 28, 2026, in a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the Northern District Police’s Central Unit on suspicion of security offenses.
Investigators found that Suwaitat had sworn allegiance to the terror group several times. He supported its ideology and consumed its content. According to the statement, he also posted ISIS material online, corresponded with supporters of the organization, and tried to convince his friends to follow his path, with the goal of advancing the group’s activity.
The indictment is being filed this morning in the Haifa Magistrate’s Court by Attorney Segev Adler of the Haifa District Prosecutor’s Office.
In the joint statement, the agencies said: “The Shin Bet and the Israel Police view with great severity any involvement of Israeli citizens in activity that endangers the security of the state and its citizens, and will continue to act in accordance with the authority granted to them by law and take all measures at their disposal to bring those involved in such activity to justice.”
