Netanyahu Backs Deri: The Left Wants to Crush Shas, Now Offers Chareidim "Heaven and Earth"

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly defended Shas chairman Aryeh Deri on Monday. He accused the media and the left of attacking Deri for years and then hypocritically courting the Chareidi parties.

“Aryeh Deri has stood firm for years against the unrestrained assault of the media and the left, who want to crush Shas. Now, with a hypocrisy that cries out to the heavens, they are prepared to offer the Chareidim heaven and earth to get them to join them.

Aryeh Deri and Shas are important partners of mine and of the right-wing bloc in leading the country, and Aryeh Deri contributes greatly in the Cabinet to Israel’s security.”
