US: Vice President JD Vance has blamed the war with Iran for the Republicans’ heavy defeat in the midterm elections, saying many voters who supported Donald Trump in 2024 switched to the Democrats.

In a lengthy post on X, Vance said Republican turnout had been relatively strong, but polling suggested former Trump voters were increasingly dissatisfied with the administration.
According to Vance, voters who abandoned the Republicans identified four main concerns: ending the war, tackling inflation and the cost of living, putting America first, and changing the United States’ relationship with Israel.
“The reason we lost is the war,” Vance declared, arguing that the party must acknowledge the reasons behind its defeat as it considers its political future.
