Election Results Show Staten Island Standing Apart From Rest of City

Staten Island voters rejected every incumbent Democratic statewide official and all five ballot proposals on Election Day. Governor Kathy Hochul, Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and Attorney General Letitia James all won reelection by wide margins, but lost the popular vote on Staten Island. The ballot proposals also passed citywide despite failing in the borough.

Unofficial results show 78,743 Staten Island votes for Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman, compared with 55,770 for Hochul. The North Shore's 61st Assembly District backed Hochul, the South Shore's 62nd and East Shore's 64th went heavily Republican, and the mid-Island and West Shore 63rd District was split nearly down the middle.
