10,000 Free 2-K Seats Coming; Childcare Providers Have Days to Apply
New York City is adding 10,000 free childcare seats for two-year-olds through its expansion of Free 2-K, open to children born in 2025 for the 2027 school year. Each seat is expected to save families an average of $26,000 a year.

Childcare providers that do not currently hold a DOE early childhood contract must submit a Request for Information to NYC Public Schools by Thursday, November 12, at 5 p.m. Current DOE-contracted providers must complete their survey by Monday, November 9, at 5 p.m.
Councilman Simcha Felder urged all interested providers to apply right away, saying the seats can only help families "if providers respond in time."
