Byron Donalds Talks With Protesters About Data Center Plan Ahead Of Tampa Rally
Byron Donalds stopped to speak with protesters about his data center plan before a rally in Tampa on Sunday.
The Republican gubernatorial candidate has pushed for local control, saying cities and counties should decide whether data centers get built in their communities. He has also backed ratepayer protections so everyday utility bills do not rise because of the facilities.
Protesters and residents across Florida have raised concerns about power and water use, noise, and neighborhood impacts. Dozens of cities and counties have already put moratoriums or bans in place.
The issue has turned into one of the biggest flashpoints in the race.
Donalds’ opponent David Jolly supports a statewide pause, while Donalds has argued against signals that Florida is closed for business investment.
