Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri reportedly informed senior rabbonim Tuesday night that he has decided to retire from political life
Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri reportedly informed senior rabbonim Tuesday night that he has decided to retire from political life following the partyโs disappointing election results.
Following the announcement, HaRav Yitzchak Yosef called for an emergency meeting of the Shas Moetzes Chachmei HaTorah, where rabbonim were expected to urge Deri to reconsider his decision or take a temporary break rather than retire permanently.
The planned meeting of the Moetzes has now been canceled, reportedly following pressure from Deri himself.
