Republican Senator Susan Collins has conceded her reelection race in Maine to Democrat Troy Jackson, ending her 30-year career in the U.S. Senate

Collins, who was first elected in 1996 and was seeking a sixth term, was the only Republican senator from New England and served as chair of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee.
