Deri and Netanyahu Speak for First Time Since Election โ The call follows Belaaz's earlier scoop that Deri had been refusing Netanyahu's calls
Netanyahu asked Deri to help keep the right-wing bloc together, and Deri committed to remaining in the bloc.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Shas leader Aryeh Deri on Monday, the first conversation between the two since Israelโs election nearly a week ago.
The call came after Belaaz News first reported that Deri had been refusing to answer Netanyahuโs calls.
During the conversation, Netanyahu asked Deri to help him keep the right-wing bloc together. He also asked Deri to press United Torah Judaism not to break up the bloc and to cooperate on the Eisenkot issue.
Deri committed that he remains in the right-wing bloc.
On Wednesday, Shas representatives will go to the Presidentโs Residence to recommend Netanyahu for prime minister. United Torah Judaism, meanwhile, is still leaning toward recommending no candidate, and toward not helping Netanyahu stop the moves of Eisenkot and his partners in the bloc.
