Throop Avenue to Partially Close for MTA Crane Work Over Two Weekends in November

Drivers in Williamsburg should prepare for temporary road closures next month as crews carry out work connected to an MTA infrastructure improvement project.

According to a construction notice distributed through the NYC Department of Transportation, Throop Avenue between Lorimer Street and Middleton Street will be fully closed to traffic during scheduled work hours between November 7 and November 15.

The closures are scheduled for Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The work will be performed by Positive Lifting LLC, which will use a crane to deliver and position a large MTA equipment box as part of MTA Contract P-36312.

According to New York State contracting records, the MTA project involves repairs to electrical infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Sandy, including circuit breakers, substations, and electrical distribution equipment.
