Iran: The United States has carried out airstrikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, US officials have been quoted as saying
The officials described the strikes as limited, saying they were launched in response to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) firing on an American aircraft. Iranian state media reported several explosions on the island on Monday.
According to reports, Washington has secretly carried out a series of smaller-scale strikes against Iran in recent weeks, deliberately avoiding public announcements to prevent signalling a return to major military operations.
The strikes come as President Donald Trump said on Monday that he was in “no rush” to intensify military action against Iran, amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement.
