DeSantis Moves Election Day Polling Locations In Flooded Florida Counties
Voters in multiple Florida counties need to double-check their polling place today after flooding forced last-minute changes.
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order Monday that lets local supervisors of elections relocate sites that are unsafe or inaccessible due to heavy rain and flash flooding.
The counties with changes are Brevard, Highlands, Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie.
Only certain precincts are affected. Signs will be posted at the original locations pointing people to the temporary ones.
Palm Bay in Brevard County took nearly two feet of rain in 24 hours, closing roads and triggering water rescues. Other east coast communities also saw major flooding.
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
