A Lakewood man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly threatened an individual with a knife on Manetta Place late Sunday night, police told TLS.
Police received a call at approximately 11:55 p.m. about a man reportedly out of control and armed with a knife, possibly approaching people and making motions to stab them.
Upon arrival, officers located the suspect and began an investigation. Police determined that the suspect had reportedly been acting disorderly in the roadway before allegedly threatening an individual with a knife.
Officers recovered a utility knife at the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Nobody was injured.
The suspect, Christopher Mendoza-Castillo, 23, of Lakewood, was charged with third-degree Aggravated Assault, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
The Lakewood Police Department commended the responding officers for their quick response and handling of the incident.
My grandmother always used to say that you don’t drink four cups at havdala.
Thankfully no one hurt. And you can see LPD really cares – look how they carry him (as their baby!:)
Victim Says Assailant Should be Charged With Aggravated Assault “For Causing So Much Aggravation!” Carl Stanson, a Lakewood resident, who was threatened Sunday night by a man carrying a knife, says the latter should be charged with Aggravated Assault “for causing us so much aggravation!” “It aggravates me when I see these assailants who cause so much aggravation being charged with mere Assault and not Aggravated Assault,” Mr. Stanson said. “It’s aggravating, to say the least!”
