The Trump administration is proposing the rapid resumption of Russian natural gas exports to Europe through Ukraine as part of negotiations for an energy ceasefire ahead of winter, according to the Wall Street Journal. The proposal, discussed by Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in September, would involve a U.S. intermediary and could benefit American investors. Washington has also suggested holding gas revenues in escrow to prevent Russia from using the funds for its war in Ukraine. European governments remain opposed to the plan.
