NTSB Reveals Final Mayday Call Before Florida Jet Crash Killed Nine
Federal investigators are detailing the final desperate moments of a Learjet 60 that crashed Sunday in Palm Beach County, Florida, killing all nine people aboard. The private jet, traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas, reported icing, turbulence and precipitation before receiving clearance to climb to 37,000 feet. Moments later, the crew declared a mayday, warning, “We are in an overspeed condition,” as the aircraft rapidly descended. Flight data indicates the jet plunged approximately 27,000 feet in one minute before crashing nose-first and erupting into flames. The NTSB is investigating, and the cause remains undetermined.
