Israel Issues Cyber Warning to Supermarkets and Food Suppliers

Israelโs National Cyber Directorate has reportedly warned retail chains, food companies and logistics centers to urgently inspect their refrigeration and freezer systems following a wave of cyberattacks across Europe. Hackers remotely manipulated temperature controls at supermarkets in several countries, spoiling large quantities of food and causing major financial losses, with some incidents involving equipment damage and fires. Israeli businesses have been urged to secure remote access, change default passwords, update outdated software, enable multi-factor authentication and install independent temperature alerts.
