Learjet Crashes Near Greenacres, Leaving Massive Crater And Multiple Fatalities
A Learjet 60 nosedived into a mobile home neighborhood near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North around 12:50 p.m. Sunday, creating a massive crater that neighbors say looked like a meteor hit the ground.
The plane was flying from Austin, Texas to the Bahamas with nine people on board. All nine were killed. No confirmed reports yet of deaths or injuries on the ground.
Residents described a loud boom that sounded like a missile, followed by a huge fireball, water pouring from a broken line, and flames. Roads in the area are closed. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
