Letter: It’s Time to Wake Up: Our Future Is in Eretz Yisrael

Over the past several hours, following the midterm elections, I have been hearing from many Jewish people expressing shock and concern about the political direction of America, particularly the election of candidates whose positions raise questions about the future of the Jewish community.

People are asking: What will happen when Trump is no longer president? Where is this country heading? Will America always remain a safe and welcoming place for Jews?

And perhaps the most important question: At what point will we find ourselves unable to freely practice our religion? Will there come a time when traveling to Israel becomes difficult, when Shechita is restricted, or when Bris Milah is challenged?

I am not writing this to scare anyone. I am not claiming that these things are about to happen. But I believe we have an obligation to look beyond today and think seriously about tomorrow.

We need to ask ourselves what Hashem is showing us and what message we should take from the times we are living in.

For generations, Jews have dreamed of returning to our homeland. Today, we have something our grandparents and great-grandparents could only dream about: Eretz Yisrael, a Jewish homeland, a powerful army, and a country that continues to develop and prosper despite extraordinary challenges.

Look at the miracles we have witnessed throughout the battles. Look at the strength of Klal Yisrael and the protection Hashem has given us. We cannot take these things for granted.

Perhaps we are witnessing the preparation for something much greater. Perhaps the stage is being set for the arrival of Moshiach. It may happen in our lifetime, or perhaps in the lifetime of our children or grandchildren. We don’t know when. But we believe in that ultimate redemption.

We should not wait until circumstances force us to make decisions. We should begin thinking about our future now.

Instead of assuming that America will always be the same, perhaps it is time to seriously consider moving to the homeland Hashem gave us.

This is not about abandoning America or living in fear. It is about recognizing where our future, our history, and our ultimate destiny are rooted.

Let’s start having these conversations. Let’s educate our children. Let’s make aliyah a real possibility rather than just something we talk about.

Let’s not wait until it’s too late to begin thinking about coming home.

Eretz Yisrael is our homeland. Our future is tied to it. And our greatest hope is to merit seeing the complete redemption, with the coming of Moshiach, speedily in our days.
