President Trump said in a Fox & Friends interview Tuesday that the United States will stop sending Israel roughly $4 billion in annual aid at the end of the year.
Trump said he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reached the agreement and described Israel as "a very thriving country," adding: "We'll help Israel if they need it."
Trump described the aid broadly as military hardware, cash or "barter" and said Israel would still be able to buy American weapons. The current U.S.-Israel security assistance agreement provides about $3.8 billion annually through 2028; the timing and terms of any change have not been detailed.
Trump said Netanyahu raised the idea. No detailed implementation plan was presented during the interview.
