New York Reports First Measles-Related Death in over 30 Years

A child in Lewis County, New York, has died in connection with an ongoing measles outbreak, marking the state's first known measles-associated death in more than three decades, according to state health officials. The child's age and vaccination status have not been released. The death comes after Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state disaster emergency in October to combat rising infections. As of October 24, New York had recorded 178 measles cases this year, including eight in New York City. Health officials continue urging residents to ensure they are vaccinated against the highly contagious disease. (ABC7 New York)
