US: US stock markets plunged on Thursday, with the technology-heavy Nasdaq index falling 5.52% — its biggest one-day decline since April 2025
Approximately $3 trillion was reportedly wiped from the value of companies in the S&P 500, which fell 4.36%, while the Dow Jones dropped 3.44%.

The sell-off was driven by concerns that Democrats’ victory in the US congressional midterm elections could lead to tougher regulation of artificial intelligence and restrictions on data centre development.
Chipmaker Nvidia fell more than 9%, as the Nasdaq entered correction territory, having declined over 10% from its October peak.
