Israel: President Isaac Herzog has confirmed that Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot has received the backing of 67 Knesset members

The result follows endorsements from both Arab parties, Ra’am and the Joint List, which together hold 19 seats in the Knesset.

Herzog said the result was clear but that he would hold further discussions with party leaders before assigning the mandate to form a government on Sunday.
