HERZOG TO SELECT CANDIDATE TO FORM ISRAEL’S NEXT GOVERNMENT ON SUNDAY — Israeli President Isaac Herzog has concluded consultations with political parties and announced that he intends to task a Knesset member with forming the next government on Sunday, November 8. Gadi Eisenkot has reportedly received broader parliamentary backing than Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, although no candidate has a guaranteed governing majority. The selected lawmaker will have 28 days to form a coalition, with a possible 14-day extension.
