Democratic candidate Eugene Bondar has won the race for Clarkstown Town Supervisor

Democratic candidate Eugene Bondar has won the race for Clarkstown Town Supervisor, defeating longtime Republican incumbent George Hoehmann in Tuesday's general election and bringing a change in leadership to one of Rockland County's largest towns.

The election marked a rematch between Bondar and Hoehmann, who previously faced each other in November 2025, when Hoehmann won by approximately 2,700 votes. The two returned to the ballot just one year later following changes to New York State election laws that moved town elections to even-numbered years.

Bondar, a New City resident and attorney with more than a decade of experience in government, campaigned on bringing greater transparency and accountability to Clarkstown's town government. His platform focused on controlling property taxes, addressing overdevelopment, strengthening zoning enforcement, and improving infrastructure and municipal services.

Before entering the race, Bondar served as Principal Assistant County Attorney for Rockland County, working with several county departments on government contracts, infrastructure projects, land use matters, and legal issues. He also previously held legal positions in New York City government and worked on major transportation and public infrastructure projects.

Throughout his campaign, Bondar criticized the town's handling of development and spending decisions, calling for stronger oversight, improved financial transparency, and greater involvement by residents in decisions affecting their neighborhoods. He also proposed improvements to roads, drainage systems, and the town's response to residents' complaints.

His victory ends Hoehmann's tenure as Town Supervisor, a position he has held since January 2016, after previously serving on the Clarkstown Town Council.

Bondar will begin his first two-year term in January 2027, taking responsibility for town operations and municipal services across the Town of Clarkstown.
