The head of Lithuania's Jewish community says authorities have not provided any special protection for Jewish institutions

The head of Lithuania's Jewish community says authorities have not provided any special protection for Jewish institutions, despite three threats last month to blow up a shul and kill Jews. "Until now we do not receive any security service from the state," said Faina Kukliansky. Community institutions currently rely on unarmed volunteers. About 5,000 Jews live in Lithuania today, compared with 168,000 before the Holocaust, when it was one of the great centers of Torah in Europe, and 141,000 of them were murdered by the Nazis and local collaborators.
