Amazon Ditches GrubHub, Now Prime Members Save $20 Off $25 On Your First Two Uber Eats Orders, But You'll Want To Keep The Uber App!
How I Got $52 For $6.94!
Prime Members: Save $20 On Each Of Your First Two Uber Eats Orders Of $25 Or More
Amazon has replaced its Grubhub+ Prime benefit with Uber Eats. Prime members can now order from Uber Eats restaurants directly on Amazon with a $0 delivery fee on orders of $25 or more. No Uber account is needed; you order and pay with your Amazon account.
Prime members get $20 off each of their first two Uber Eats orders of $25 or more placed through Amazon. The promotion runs for the first two weeks of the launch.
The $20 promotion stacks with restaurant Buy 1, Get 1 Free offers. In the order below, 6 items which were $52, came down to $26 after the BOGO offers, the $20 promotion came off that, and the delivery fee was $0:
But orders placed through Amazon are separate from your Uber account, so Uber One benefits don’t apply and there is no option to pay with Uber gift cards. Therefore the service fee is higher than with an Uber One account. Here it was a whopping $11.06 on the $26 order above. If it wasn’t for the $20 discount I’d have been much better off ordering via the Uber app. The fees apply to the pre-BOGO discount price.
When ordering via the Uber App my total is $38.11, but you can save 20% on gift cards from Costco, and you can use your monthly AMEX Platinum $15 credit:
Which would come out to approximately $18.48 after those discounts.
So while the $20 off $25 is great to have. I don’t see myself using this Prime benefit without a major discount, unless they add the ability to sync my Uber One Membership and add the ability to use gift cards.
The real trick with this Prime Members $20 off $25 promotion is using in-store pickup! I got my $52 order down to just $6.94:
Prime Visa cardmembers also earn 5% back on Uber Eats orders placed through Amazon through 12/5.
If you already activated Grubhub+ through Prime, you can keep using that membership through 12/31/27.
