Reader’s Write: Frustration Over Parking Tickets After Construction Crews Move Cars
I’m writing because this has been happening with the green infrastructure construction, and it’s getting very frustrating.
We understand that the crews need the streets clear to do the work, and that cars have to be moved early in the morning. But when they move the cars and park them in other spots, including metered spots, they need to make sure the drivers know about it.
The problem is that cars are being moved into spots with meters, but no note is left on the car saying that it was relocated and that the meter needs to be paid. The owner comes out later, has no idea the car was moved to a metered spot, and ends up with a parking ticket.
How is that fair? They didn’t choose to park at a meter. The car was moved there by the towing crew. At the very least, someone should leave a notice on the car so the owner knows to pay the meter and doesn’t come back to find a ticket.
Residents are already dealing with enough inconvenience from all the construction. They shouldn’t also have to pay tickets because their cars were moved and nobody bothered to let them know they were now in a metered spot.
