Red Motorcycle Appears to Target Lakewood Bochurim, Forcing Them to Jump Out of the Way

Newly released dashcam footage has raised serious concerns in Lakewood after a motorcyclist was reportedly seen driving directly toward three yeshiva bochurim walking along a sidewalk, forcing them to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.

The incident occurred Monday afternoon, November 2, along Route 9 near Todd Plaza, several hours before a separate confrontation in which a motorcyclist allegedly harassed and chased a bochur in Lakewood.

A local resident who was traveling with his son witnessed the earlier incident at approximately 1:50 to 2 p.m. The witness said a red motorcycle suddenly veered onto the sidewalk and headed toward three bochurim who were walking in the area.

The bochurim reportedly scrambled to get out of the motorcycle’s path as the rider approached them, narrowly avoiding what could have been a serious collision.

The witness said the motorcyclist then continued into the Todd Plaza parking lot, driving recklessly and nearly striking additional pedestrians before speeding away.

“Guy looked like he was having a blast scaring people,” the witness told The Lakewood Scoop.

The resident suggested that surveillance footage from nearby businesses and properties be reviewed to help identify the rider and establish precisely what occurred.

The newly surfaced footage has attracted particular attention because of another incident reported later that same evening, when a motorcyclist allegedly ran a red light before harassing and pursuing a yeshiva bochur.

The Lakewood Scoop reported that the motorcycle seen during the afternoon incident appeared similar to the one involved in the nighttime confrontation. However, it emphasized that the identity of the rider has not been established and that it remains unconfirmed whether the same individual was involved in both episodes.

The reports have prompted concern among residents about the dangers posed by reckless motorcycle riding, particularly in areas heavily traveled by pedestrians and yeshiva bochurim.

Additional residents responding to the reports described other troubling encounters with groups of motorcyclists in Lakewood. One motorist claimed that several motorcycles had passed his vehicle while being operated erratically and that one rider kicked his car while passing.

Those accounts have not been independently verified, and authorities have not publicly established a connection between the reported incidents.

It was not immediately clear whether police have identified the motorcyclist, whether formal complaints have been filed in connection with the sidewalk incident, or whether any charges are being considered.

The footage and eyewitness account nevertheless raise serious safety questions, particularly given the possibility that pedestrians were deliberately frightened by a motorcycle being driven toward them.
