Republican Ashley Moody Defeats Democrat Angie Nixon in Florida Senate Race

(VINnews) – Republican Ashley Moody defeated Democrat Angie Nixon on Tuesday in a closely watched Florida Senate race that drew attention over Nixon’s outspoken criticism of Israel and comments that raised concerns among some Jewish and pro-Israel observers, who viewed her rhetoric as antisemitic.

The race became a particular focus for Jewish and pro-Israel voters because of Nixon’s record of sharply criticizing Israel, calling its military campaign in Gaza a genocide and advocating an end to U.S. military aid to the Jewish state. Her positions prompted some Jewish leaders and pro-Israel observers to question whether her rhetoric crossed into antisemitism, allegations Nixon rejected. The debate added another dimension to an already closely watched contest.

The Associated Press declared Moody the winner at 8:34 p.m. EST.
