Bedford Avenue Reopens Early Thanks to NYPD, DSNY, Shomrim and Askonim
Bedford Avenue reopened to vehicle traffic at approximately 5:15 p.m. following today’s New York City Marathon, ahead of the anticipated 6:00–7:00 p.m. reopening.
Tens of thousands of runners passed through Brooklyn throughout the morning and afternoon, with street closures causing major traffic disruptions.
Close coordination between the NYPD, the Sanitation Department (DSNY), Williamsburg Shomrim and local askonim helped speed up the reopening. Crews began opening side streets around 4:00 p.m., including Flushing Avenue and Wallabout Street, before reopening Bedford Avenue.
Special thanks to 90th Pct Commanding Officer Captain Vincent Seminerio and noted askan R’ Moshe Weiser for working closely with the community to make it happen.
