Learjet That Crashed in Florida Had a Previous Turbulence Scare!

Six months before its fatal Sunday crash, Learjet 60 N722BD encountered severe turbulence near Newark (EWR).
Newly surfaced ATC audio reveals the crew struggling to maintain altitude, deviating by as much as 700 feet.
The controller challenged the pilots, warning: if they couldn't maintain altitude, it was severe — not moderate — turbulence.
All nine people aboard were killed in Sunday's crash while flying from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas.
Investigators have not established any connection between the two incidents.
