Byron Donalds Becomes Florida’s First Black Governor
A kid from a working-class Brooklyn neighborhood just made history in Florida.
Republican Byron Donalds defeated Democrat David Jolly in a tight race Tuesday night, becoming the state’s first Black governor and the first Black Republican ever elected governor anywhere in the U.S.
Donalds got emotional talking about the moment with his mother, who was by his side.
“G-d is so good. It was a real special moment last night with me and my mother.”
He thanked her for everything she did raising him and said she’s proud.
Donalds will be sworn in next year, succeeding Ron DeSantis.
