An updated company policy bars bets and event contracts based on confidential information obtained through work at Apple. It is not a blanket ban on prediction markets.
Apple has explicitly barred its personnel from using confidential information obtained through their work to bet or trade in prediction markets, according to its updated insider trading policy.
The policy, updated in October 2026 and included as an exhibit in Apple's annual filing, prohibits wagers, bets and event contracts that use Apple confidential information about the company or other businesses. It also bars tipping that information to other people who may participate in those markets.
The restriction covers information about suppliers, manufacturers, vendors, customers and other business partners obtained through work at Apple. It applies whether or not the activity legally qualifies as insider trading or securities trading.
The policy applies to directors, officers, employees, independent contractors and consultants, as well as certain family members and people or entities whose trading they influence or control.
The language does not impose a blanket ban on all prediction-market activity. The stated prohibition concerns activity involving the use of confidential information, which Apple says includes more than material nonpublic information.
The policy update was reported Tuesday by 9to5Mac. Prediction markets allow participants to buy or sell contracts tied to the outcome of future events.
