Mayor Zohran Mamdani has directed NYPD and City Hall officials to develop changes to the Strategic Response Group after congresswoman-elect Darializa Avila Chevalier called for its disbandment. Mamdani campaigned on scrapping the unit, but the effort had stalled. An announcement could come as early as next week.
